I wonder if that area was dented and they had to pull it out. Weird that there are holes there though.

Brazing under body filler? Luxury! Why when I was a boy we only found lead and lead primer under the body filler, and we ‘ad to lick it off with our tongues! And we didn’t have any base metal, either!

Those look small to be SAE standard pick axe size.

Perfectly normal, if by “normal” you mean “totally expected from a hack”. On super-thin metal, people beat it in a little, then drill or punch holes so that the 1/8"+ super thick bondo lumps will have something to anchor in. For like a year.

45K gold? So it’s almost twice as pure as 100% pure?

Those holes look like they’re from dent removal. “Coolest” I’ve found was pin striping stickers.

picture #1, has some thick layer going on........you can see the spring ring of growth....... you going to try and beat it back straight??? or are you going to REsculpt it?

I’m not even sure why there’s so much filler on it. The metal is pretty much straight except for a few minor dents. I’m definitely going to have to invest in a good body hammer set though.

i posted a contour gauge earlier....... that wonky comb looking thing. it lets you copy a shape. if you trust the other fender, you might use a gauge to compare them, until you get them close(or see where you are starting at) ...... you start buying hammers, and before long, you have entire drawers, with all manner of ball peen, and sledge, a few “real” body hammers, and tack hammers with valve heads welded on the face. and you start investing in dollies......i got a few old shoe storing bucks( you put them in old shoes to keep the shoe from shrinking) made out of steel. maginificent curves for beating against.
the cheap harbor freight set makes a nice starter though.

I love how stupid people were.
man 1“Lets drill holes in the metal to put screws in to pull it out!”
man2 “genius...and then we can cover up the holes with body filler it has tons of talc in it but we should be fine.”
man1 “i’ll get the frosting bag.”
